Once in a thousand years the bronze dragon of Ljubljana wakes on his pedestal and sees the female dragons flying west, following the setting sun. 
But the ancient spell still holds: all he can do is bellow his anguish and frustration. 
He is still bronze, much to heavy to ever rise and dragonesses like their lovers agile and untiring on their mating flight.
 Perhaps, the dragon muses, I shouldn't have eaten that virgin princess but how could i have known that the king's wizard was secretly in love with her?
